Effect of Myleran and 6-Mercaptopurine (6.MP) on the Serum Level of Vitamin B,,, in Chronic Myelocytic Leukemia
نویسندگان
چکیده
In the present study, serum vitamin B,2 determinations and various clinical and hematologic measurements were made on patients with chronic myelocytic leukemia before and during 6-MP or Myleran therapy and also at regular intervals during the first remission period. The results indicate that a reduction in total leukocytes following therapy is followed by a gradual lowering of serum vitamin B12. A rough correlation was observed between the serum B12 levels at the completion of therapy and the duration of the first remission.

متن کاملNUDT15 genetic variants and 6-mercaptopurine intolerance in pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia: an updated review
Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) accounts for nearly 30% of pediatric cancers. The maintenance treatment for ALL comprises daily oral 6-mercaptopurine (6-MP) and weekly methotrexate (MTX). 6-MP is a purine analog that can significantly improve the long-term survival of ALL patients. Despite more than 90% of 5-year survival of childhood ALL in developed countries, treatment interruption due to...
متن کاملProtective Effect on the Liver of Albino Rats Treated with 6 - Mercaptopurine Drug
The leukemia is considered to be one of the most frequent tumors in childhood. The first line of its treatment is 6-mercaptopurine (6-MP). There are many recorded cytotoxic effects for 6-mercaptopurine on tissues such as liver, pancreas and bone marrow. Nowadays the needs for administration of cytotoxic drugs are increased as the incidence of malignancies increases. So we have to search for a s...
متن کاملToxicity Evaluation of 6-Mercaptopurine Using Accelerated Cytotoxicity Mechanism Screening (ACMS) techniques
6- Mercaptopurine (6-MP) is widely used in clinic as an immunosuppressive for treatment of acute lymphocytic leukemia, Crohn's disease, and ulcerative colitis with documented unpredictable hepatotoxicity. The potential molecular cytotoxic mechanisms of 6-MP against isolated rat hepatocytes were searched in this study using “Accelerated Cytotoxicity Mechanism Screening (ACMS)” techniques. The co...
متن کاملOn the paradoxically concentration-dependent metabolism of 6-mercaptopurine in WEHI-3b murine leukemia cells.
The intracellular metabolism of 6-mercaptopurine (6-MP) was studied in a murine leukemia cell line, WEHI-3b. Cells were incubated 3 to 24 h with 10 nM to 50 microM 6-MP. Nucleotides were extracted with perchloric acid, and the 6-thiopurine nucleotides were isolated on mercurial cellulose. The endogenous ribonucleotides in the perchloric acid extracts as well as 6-thiopurine nucleotides were sep...
